ReSChape Project at the Euroma Conference 2025

The ReSChape project was represented at the EurOMA (European Operations Management Association) Conference 2025 with the presentation of three research papers. Held in Milan, Italy, from 13 to 18 June, the conference gathered more than 600 researchers from approximately 30 countries. Recognized as the most important event in the field of operations and supply chain management in Europe, EurOMA offers na important platform to stay updated about the latest and most innovative research on the field. The 2025 theme, “Operations Management Opening to Multi-disciplinarity in a Time of Grand Challenges,” was closely aligned with ReSChape’s mission and research focus.

Ricardo Zimmermann, from INESC TEC, presented the paper titled “The Role of Public Policies on Sustainability and Resilience of Supply Chains: A Pan-European Cross-Country Analysis,” co-authored with Pedro Senna and Ana Inês from INESC TEC, as well as Jaime Bonnin Roca and Tongle Si from Eindhoven University of Technology. Featured in the session on Policy and Sustainability, the study conducted a cross-country analysis of national and EU policies relevant to supply chain management. It aimed to evaluate regulatory preparedness across Europe and identify existing gaps in the current policy environment.

In the session dedicated to Geopolitics in Sustainability and Supply Chain Management, Alp Yildirim from Cranfield University presented the paper “Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism Adoption: Implications for Supply Chain Design Decisions,” co-authored with Aristides Matopoulos and Dimitra Kalaitzi. This research introduced a conceptual framework developed using systems thinking, connecting various CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) adoption scenarios with their respective implications for supply chain design and strategy.

The third paper, “Dynamic Model for Strategies to Achieve Sustainable and Resilient Supply Chains,” was presented by Paulo Pereira and co-authored by Ricardo Zimmermann and Pedro Senna from INESC TEC. The study focuses on developing a set of strategies and actions aimed at ensuring business continuity and helping supply chain actors effectively manage risks related to sustainability and resilience.

Ricardo Zimmermann, senior researcher at INESC TEC, emphasized that all three studies received constructive and encouraging feedback during their sessions. This reception reflects the growing recognition of the ReSChape project as a valuable source of research with both practical and theoretical contributions to the field of operations and supply chain management.
