The ReSChape project was recently featured at the EurOMA Sustainability Forum 2025, where project partner INESC TEC contributed with a policy-focused presentation that brought key insights to an international audience of sustainability and operations management researchers.

Pedro Senna, researcher at INESC TEC, presented the paper titled “Cross-country policy analysis on topics related to the sustainability and resilience of European supply chains.” The presentation took place as part of the 12th edition of the EurOMA Sustainability Forum, which was held online from March 24 to 27, 2025. The event was co-organized by INESC TEC and Porto Business School, bringing together approximately 150 researchers from over 25 countries.

The central theme of this year’s Forum — “Regenerative Operations and Supply Chains for Sustainable Positive Impact” — set the stage for thought-provoking discussions on how to move beyond traditional sustainability toward models that actively restore, regenerate, and improve social and environmental systems.

Within this context, Pedro Senna’s paper, developed under the framework of the ReSChape project, addressed the urgent need to align European supply chain strategies with evolving regulatory and policy frameworks. The study conducted a cross-country analysis of national and EU-level policies, with the goal of understanding how well current policies support the twin goals of sustainability and resilience in supply chain management.

The analysis focused on several core objectives:

  • Assessing the regulatory readiness of European countries to support sustainable and resilient supply chain practices.
  • Evaluating to what extent existing policies address a set of Key Horizontal Issues identified by the ReSChape project, such as circularity, social responsibility, digitalization, and risk management.
  • Identifying current gaps and limitations in the policy landscape, including inconsistencies across countries, lack of harmonization, or insufficient focus on long-term resilience.

The paper sparked interest and discussion among Forum participants, who recognized the growing importance of policy alignment in enabling effective and scalable sustainability strategies in operations and logistics. The feedback gathered during the session is expected to contribute to the refinement of ReSChape’s ongoing policy analysis and the development of practical recommendations for EU stakeholders.

This participation marks another important milestone for the ReSChape project’s engagement with the broader research and policy communities, demonstrating the value of its findings beyond the consortium. These interactions are not only a platform for disseminating results, but also a valuable opportunity to receive expert feedback and foster collaborative discussions that further enrich the project’s work.

Stay tuned as the ReSChape project continues to contribute to the transformation of European supply chains — towards systems that are more resilient, more sustainable, and more aligned with the social and environmental challenges of our time.
